AWAS, 444 MADISON AVENUE, New York

AWAS expanded the New York office and moved to a glass enclosed corner of a magnificent contemporary building with views of the side of St Patrick Cathedral.

We warmed up the entrance hall with wide plank silver rifted oak from Ebony & Company and the walls and reception desk in crisp white. The two large large tree-top landscapes from the Everything is Looking Up series by Daniel Francis Gliubizzi are windows to the peaceful world above the trees in the clouds.

Having the opportunity to design the New York offices (now the third time) presented new challenges of meeting the companies needs for expansion and to reuse existing desks and credenzas where possible.

The main open plan desks area was divided into three sections. Lounge, Media book work stations with Calibre files banks by Knoll with Bertoia barstools in Ricochet red fabric and the desks were exisiting. The lounge area anchored by a Chilewich, woven black and bark carpet has Design Within Reach Theater leather sofa in Edelman black full grain hides and Black Barcelona chairs in front of the signature plexi shelves with aircraft models.

Between the window looking out to Madison Ave are four plexi framed windows to the sky also commissioned from the Everything is Looking Up series by Daniel Francis Gliubizzi.
